A consultation document has been released by the NHS about the future of the Cuffley Village Surgery.
This paper sets out how NHS Hertfordshire (the PCT) will engage with patients who attend Cuffley Village Surgery following a decision by the doctors to concentrate their practice at Valley View Health Centre. Between Tuesday 15 May and Monday 9 July 2012, we are inviting patients to raise any issues they have as a consequence of this decision.

The proposed closure of Cuffley Surgery contravenes NHS stated policy (see below).Removing services from the older than average Cufffley population is clearly discrimatory.
“New laws under the Equality Act 2010 give the NHS responsibilities to work towards eliminating discrimination and reducing inequalities in care.
Most of us need to visit a doctor or dentist from time to time, and may need hospital treatment on occasion. Others may rely on the NHS and social care services for help with long-term health conditions or disabilities. Whenever you need healthcare, medical treatment or social care, you have the right to be treated fairly and not to be discriminated against. The new law sets out that every patient should be treated as an individual and with respect and dignity.
The new law means that all NHS organisations will make sure health and social care services are fair and meet the needs of everyone, whatever their background or circumstances.”
I fully endorse your response via Andrea. The plan might satisfy
NHS and doctors but the majority of other users – the
often infirm, inhabitants of Cuffley have been marginalised.
